From Jake to Ryan

[WITHHELD], San Francisco, CA

Dear Ryan,
As per your request, I am enclosing the first five chapters of the manuscript for my book, Carts and Kings. I am also including in this query letter a brief summary blurb of the entire book. In the start, Geoff Dartman is a foulmouthed athletic high school senior. On the brink of graduation, he is approached at home by a strange man in a suit. This man declares Geoff to be the long-lost king of an ancient underground civilization, which has come to be known as Atlantis. Geoff, not wanting to take the responsibility, declines. However, Agent Fletcher, the only name that the man is known by, employs all force possible to retrieve Geoff. He is forced to go on a long and arduous trek all around the world in order to escape Agent Fletcher and clear his name of the crime of murdering his parents - an act carried out, of course, by Agent Fletcher in an attempt to coax Geoff into coming with him. After three months of running, Geoff is cornered, but decides to commit suicide - better to die on his terms than theirs.
I hope you will decide to accept my book.
Many thanks,
Jake Brown
